Novak Djokovic Bio:
A versatile player, Novak Djokovic has won five Grand Slam titles, including three in a superlative 2011 season that saw him capture 10 tournament titles overall, post an ATP-best 70-6 record and seize the No. 1 ranking. In 2012, The world No. 1 added to his legacy in fighting back from a 2-4 fifth-set deficit to defeat Rafal Nadal, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (5),  7-5, and capture his third Australian Open championship in the longest Grand Slam final in history — a five hour, 53-minute epic. It was Djokovic's seventh straight win over Nadal and came after his five-set triumph over Andy Murray in the semifinals, marking the first time he had won back-to-back five-set matches. Djokovic became the fifth man in the Open Era to win three straight majors, joining Nadal, Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Rod Laver.  The top-seeded Serbian beat Andy Murray, 6-1, 7-6, to collect his third career Miami title without surrendering a set. It was Djokovic's 30th career title, including his 11th Masters crown, tying him with Pete Sampras for fourth place on the all-time list. Djokovic fought of four match points to edge Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the French Open quarterfinals, then topped Roger Federer to reach his first French Open final where he lost to Rafael Nadal. Djokovic swept Richard Gasquet in the Toronto final to successfully defend his Rogers Cup title and win his 12th career Masters 1000 championship. In winning the 2008 Australian Open, he became the first player besides Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal to win a major since 2005, when Marat Safin won the Australian Open. Djokovic also reached the final of the 2007 U.S. Open. Nicknamed "Nole", the Serb won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics and went on to collect the 2008 Tennis Masters Cup. Djokovic won five titles in 2009, including the Paris Masters, and advanced to four other Masters 1000 finals that year. In 2010, Djokovic claimed two titles, reached the quarterfinals or better in all four Grand Slam tournaments for the first time, led Serbia to its first Davis Cup championship with a 7-0 singles record and finished the season ranked No. 3 for the fourth year in a row.  Djokovic delivered a spectacular 2011 season, winning 41 consecutive matches to open the year before losing for the first time to Roger Federer in the French Open semifinals. Djokovic won 64 of his first 66 matches, collecting Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open. His four-set win over Nadal in the final was his sixth straight victory over the king of clay. Djokovic fought off two match points vs. Federer in the U.S. Open semifinal to become the first man to win a major championship after saving a match point since Safin won the 2005 Australian Open after saving two match points against Federer in the semifinals. Djokovic finished 2011 collecting an ATP record $12,619,803 in prize money, surpassing the previous record of $10.1 million earned by Rafael Nadal in 2010 and Roger Federer in 2007. His parents, Srdjan and Dijana, are often a vocal presence in his player’s box. With their help, the family purchased the Las Vegas tournament from the ATP and created the Serbia Open, which Djokovic won in 2009 (its inaugural year). Djokovic’s brother, Marko, is also a pro player.
